In the current decisive phase of the development of labour markets in the European Union, the Academia+ project provides an opportunity to attend research-based Study and Training Exchange Programmes (3 C-STEP) that combine theory, research, practice and mobility. These programmes were  developed using a considered European approach to address the challenges of the refugee crisis, demographic change and digitisation/future jobs.

The Academia+ project  developed and pilot 3 research-based counsellor´s study and training exchange programmes (C-STEPs) for career guidance professionals from across Europe. Academia+ allowed guidance professionals to take part in annual one-week C-STEPs in each of the partner countries (due to COVID – 19 pandemic, training were held online)  Each of the C-STEPs combines theory, research and practice. As well as providing state-of-the-art information, a strong focus of the C-STEPs is on allowing participants to achieve a deeper insight in the host countries´ approaches, i.e. in the form of study visits (i.e. to employment agencies, VET-providers, companies, chambers, etc.) This involves representatives from practice (i.e. in the form of lectures and workshops etc.) and /or immersive experiences where participants engage with the target group and carry out a learning/guidance activity together.

The project focused on exchanging experiences in counselling and guidance methods which are related to specific socio-economic and political terms in each European country. The first topics for the envisaged 3 Counsellors’ Study and Training Exchange Programs (3 C-STEP) were chosen according to their importance for the current labour market: Counselling migrants and refugees, Future jobs and Demographic change. So, the Academia+ project  provided the following Intellectual outputs (areas of work):
3 one-weeks Counsellors´ Study and Training Exchange Programmes (IO1, IO2, IO3 C-STEP):

01 C-STEP 1 ‘Counselling migrants and refugees’ – didactical framework, units and training resources. In IO1,  the didactical framework, the training week (including training structure, content and methods) and training resources for the one week C-STEP relating to the topic ‘Counselling migrants and refugees’ were  developed.

02 C-STEP 2 ‘Future jobs’ – didactical framework, units and training resources. In IO2, the didactical framework, the training week (including training structure, content and methods) and training resources for C-STEP 2 relating to the topic ‘Future jobs’ were developed.

IO4  provide complimentary content, material and resources to the C-STEPS and are  available in the Academia+ media centre and interactive learning environment. This additional material are based on the literature reviews and resources developed in IO2 and IO3.

05 Web Portal for participants, counsellors and guidance practitioners and lecturers. The project’s web portal, which act as a gateway and front end for the media centre (IO4) are developed, tested and implemented in IO5. This web portal is the location where the project’s main target groups can access the project’s main outputs and components.

The training modules were provided by professionals in careers guidance and counselling and related topics to each of the training units.
